VCC is pleased to announce that Club Coach Simon Dwyer will be organising training programs available to all members again in the second half of 2014. Please click here for more details and to register.
The club program has been running for over two years now, with great success. With experience coaching riders across all levels of ability and talent, coach Simon Dwyer has successfully managed to build a strong rider base in all grades within the club as VCC members make their mark at club, state and national level. The success of Simon’s training program has increased the club member base as occasional riders from all over Canberra make the step from the increasingly popular novice program and transition to road racing. The various program streams cater for riders from E grade up to A grade. All members of CA registered clubs are invited to participate in the programs.
The cost is $120 for the months from August to December. Sign up by clicking Login above (use your Cycling Australia login and password).
About the program and who it’s for
The club program has a road racing focus. The program will be divided into two streams: Development and Race. These programs will cover pretty much the whole of the regular VCC club level racers, from those just graduated from a novice program right up to those looking to hit up A and B grade road races.
This training program is different from the Novice Program. The Novice Program is an eight week skills-based program for people who want to start bike racing. The Vikings Training Program is the next step for riders wanting to continue to develop fitness, skills and tactics. The next Novice Program will be commencing in Spring: http://vikingscycling.org.au/program…ovice-program/
How it works
The programs include an emailed training guide tailored to the target events, along with a number of coached sessions to develop skills and tactics. The programs will be easy to follow, free of jargon and – most importantly – enjoyable. In addition to major targets we’ll have some intermediate targets to get ourselves tuned up, and of course plenty of local club racing.
Training groups & Targets
The training programs will culminate in the Tour of Bright (Race group) and summer criteriums (Dev group).
